Should I remove tubo w/ exhst mnfld as a unit then separate? Will it clear? 700 1990

For your year of 740, the turbo is easily removed from the exhaust manifold, leaving the exhaust manifold on the engine. The turbo is held to the exhaust manifold by four nuts, on studs extending from the exhaust manifold. You'll have to take the down pipe loose, and deal with the oil supply and drain lines as well as the cooling lines.

For 1989 and earlier 740s, you must remove the exhaust manifold. On the early hears, the turbo is held to the exhaust manifold with bolts installed from the back side.
