Water on driver's floor, leaves behind center console 200 1993

Hello, water is leaking into the driver's floor of my 1993 240 wagon. It's coming in from the door sill when the car is parked outside in the rain. Also, I found many leaves behind the center console, which may be part of the problem. I'd greatly appreciate any help resolving the issue.

Questions:
How do I remove the black trim on the door sill so I can pull up the floor carpeting?
Are the vents at the base of the windshield called "the cowl"?
Where do these vents lead and how can I clean those ducts?
What's the best way to put a screen on these vents?

One post I found (listed below) revealed that the door sill is a hollow duct carrying water that came in from the cowl. The five drains below the sill are clear and the sill duct has no debris, according to my probe with a long coat hanger. Yet, water slowly drips from a spot between the two drains under the front door (up to 24 hours after it rains). There's rust on the top of the door sill near where it's leaking. How is water dripping near the door sill duct, yet the sill duct is dry?

I'm extra sure the leak is in the sill because 10 minutes after it started raining, I felt the carpet and it was only wet by the sill. It hadn't spread to the rest of the carpet. How do I remove the door trim pieces so I can lift up the carpet?

I found leaves in the white, 3-globed vacuum reservoir, specifically in the large square flap in its back. Does air come in here from the vents at the base of the windshield? How can I clean any path that the air (and leaves) took to ensure it's not causing a water leak?

I've attached pictures showing the location of the door sill drains and a close up of a drain hole, for future reference.

Here are some good posts I found on the topic, for reference.

Thanks for your help.
