PCV pump? S90-V90

I have a 1997 065 and a 1998 S/90. Following is based on them.

If by "PCV air pump" you are referring to the air pump between the engine and the right side fender. There is a vacuum across the engine from a device on the left fender well, to

That pump is supposed to blow air into the exhaust manifold in order to heat the Cat more quickly than without. It is not a PCV pump. There is a vacuum line from a device mounted on the right fender to a device that may control the pump.

Check and clean the connectors, both vacuum electrical. There is an electrical connector to the pump nearby. On mine I was able to disconnect it and apply 12 volts to the pump there, to see if the pump wasn't working because it was bad or because some item in the control circuit wasn't working.

If the pump doesn't come on when the system "thinks" it should, a check engine light and cold will be set. Get it scanned to confirm the problem.

Good Luck,

Bob

rhetorical.

The pump sits in the ring-shaped mount that in turn is mounted with ruubber bushings and they break allowing the pump to twist out if allowing the while pump to twist.
