In-tank pump? No HUMMING 200 1982

I have an 82 DL that I did buy from a little old lady with only 71,000 on it. I'm getting NO HUMMIMG from the In-Tank Fuel Pump.

Can any one confirm that I should be hearing a running/priming sound for a second or 2 just before I turn the key to IGNITION?

Is that true for this B21?
