I have always found this to be local specialty thing more so than a franchise/chain thing.

Just make sure to tell them you have a '92 240. Never let anyone know it is an '85 until they are there to install it (you could try to hide the fact even then by removing the clips and trim). The guy installing probably does not care if you do not care, but the folks at the office will likely tell you only the OE-fit for that year may be used.
