Started, then died, now won't start 700 1991

My car has been taking a couple of cranks to get it going for a while now. Last couple of days it has been taking 4-5 for longer periods. Today it took 2 cranks and some pumps of the pedal to get it going, but after I put it into reverse and had yet to pull out of my spot today it died. It started again (no help) and by the time I got to the edge of the parking lot of died again. Then it would start and immediately die. it did this several times. Now though it won't do anything. when I turn the key it just sits there; doesn't even try to start. It like when you try to start it, but the car is in gear so it doesn't let you. Like that.

I am suspecting my fuel pump but was concerned that something had occured because it wont try to start now.

Another symptom I have bee having with fair consistancy over past month or two is that when accelerating it will hesistate, and when reaches about 1500-2000 rpm will really start to hesistate and jerk, but this can be overcome by slowing accelerating from a stop and when reaching the 1500 mark not pushing but just letting it get past it on it's on.

Am I right Fuel pump? Or is something else going on?
