Type J overdrive parts sources 140-160

August 2011
Sharing my parts hunting luck for rebuilding a type J overdrive (140/1800):

IPD in Seattle WA has a rebuild kit. It does not include any of the ball bearings, or all the O-rings. They do sell some of the kit gaskets separately that are not listed on the website, so call if you need something you don't see.

Beechmont Volvo parts in Cincinnati OH has genuine Volvo parts, part numbers
11013-0 (bearing) best price I found
380776-5, 380674-2, 380676-7 gasket

Bearing Supply in Great Falls MT has the two bearings Beechmont can't get from Volvo easily: 380693-2, 181092-8, and also
the O-rings not included in the IPD kit:
Buna-N (standard nitrile) sizes 007 (2 needed), 010, 022 (2 needed), 024, 028. The three smallest ones are for rebuilding the solenoid, which don't have Volvo part numbers on the fiche.
Excellent prices and ship with a smile, by the way.

There's a nice tech article in four parts on the Type J at www.buckeyetriumphs.org, which is where I found the O-ring info.

This post summarizes hours of research; may it help a searcher.
