My daughter has a 1995 940 with B230 engine, non-turbo. We put it in storage in May with a bottle of Techron and stabilizer in the gas tank. The Techron was to clean up the erratic fuel gauge sender, which it did. I'm wondering if it did in the fuel pump. I tried to start it today and it was not getting gas. I put my fuel pressure gauge in-line by the injector rail and no pressure. I can hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds and then it stops. Since it stops, does that mean it is building up pressure somewhere? I then removed the fuel filter and tried to crank it again (with a fire extinguisher handy). Again, the fuel pump ran for a couple seconds and stopped and there was no big stream of gas out of the hose from the tank which I would expect if the pump was running (tank is full so there is some run of fuel from gravity), no change in volume. So, is the pump gone and if so, why does it shut off after a couple seconds? Could the filter on the pump be clogged (there is gas that runs out of the hose due to gravity so I would think the pump should do something)?
I hate to think of changing another in-tank pump. I have done several on Regina systems but not on a Bosch in-tank. I have read that they are a little more difficult because they are bigger (and more expensive) on the 1995s.
