Has anyone refurbished the surrounding cylinder on the lock mechanism? 120-130

My locks suck quite a bit and it is because the door handle sleeve part is very worn. It seems to be made of some soft pot metal and over the last 42 years the locks barrel's tabs have worn grooves into the cylinder they are supposed to lock into. I'm thinking of maybe putting a brass sleeve with a channel for the tans in there as a solution. If anyone as experience advice on this, bring it on.
