Does temp comp board bypass affect fuel gauge? 200

Had the instrument cluster out to fix the odometer (large gear failed this time). While it was out and I was waiting for the replacement gear, I decided to finally do the temperature compensation board bypass mod. Got everything all buttoned back up, odo works great, temp gauge works fine, but - the fuel gauge is now dead.

Just to get a little more room with the soldering iron I had removed both temp and fuel gauges from the main board, but that's a simple 2-nut affair and hard to screw up. Nonetheless I retraced my steps, made sure everything is connected, and the fuel gauge doesn't show an open circuit. The needle doesn't budge at all, as if it's not getting power.

Other than removing the temp comp board and jumpering pins 1 & 3, I can't think of anything else I might have done to put the fuel gauge on the fritz. Am I leaving out a step with the bypass mod?
