The car has "thelostartof" chips and 3" exhaust, IPD cam, 19T turbo, big fat intercooler, browntops, all maintenace current, wideband etc. It is just a blast to drive as a daily driver. It has run a 13.4 second quarter. It always starts and never stumbles once warmed up. BUT for the first one-half to three minutes the car barely idles. I sit there till all of a sudden, like a switch is thrown, it runs great. So after pondering this now for eight plus months, what I know for sure is that the number three cylinder exhaust manifold area does not heat up like the other parts of the exhaust manifold, ie areas for cylinders 1, 2, and 4. I discovered this by scanning with an infrared temperature sensor the exhaust manifold when the engine is first started in the morning. As soon as rough idle turns smooth running, the number 3 area exhaust manifold quickly climbs up to the same temperature ast the rest of the exhaust manifold. What might cause this same cylinder to consistently not fire for the first 30 seconds to three minutes. Wideband reads 7.4 for the first minute or so and them slowly climbs to 14.+. This is consistent over multiple days, weather and temperature. Once it is warmed up it never stumbles, and just runs great. I've read and read and can't even understand how no.3 cylinder could so consistently not "turn on" for this brief start up period. One last point; after it's warmed up and I'm off running errends the same thing always happens but for a much shorter period of time. Right now I'm most interested in HOW this could happen. Thoughts and advice are appreciated. I might add that the only thing Dana had not done before he sold the car to me was add a cupholder for the center console. This I have done and was careful to match the four hangers to the front and back holders. Other than that it's just a joy. :)
