Loud bang from rear end when auto trans shifts from 1st to 2nd 200

Hi Board Peeps,

I have a 1984 240 wagon and a 1986 240 Sedan that both have the exact same problem! One with 120K, the other 140K. Both automatics. All rear end bushings including TAB have been replaced. Center support is new too.

When the cars accelerate slowly from a dead stop, there is a very loud bang in the rear end area when the trans shifts from 1st to 2nd. After that all shifting through other gears is fine. No noise.

The only common thing between the two cars is that I flushed and refilled both transmissions with full synthetic Dexron compatible fluid (Wolf's Head Brand).

It is just such a coincidence that both cars are exhibiting the same symptoms. So my question is, does anyone think that full synthetic trans fluid, could cause this problem? I wonder if the synthetic fluid does not have the same friction properties as standard Dexron. Perhaps it's more slippery and is chnaging the coefficient of friction inside the trans causing it to shift too quickly and thereby causing this horrendous bang between 1st and 2nd.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
