87 engine in 90 body 700

Hello

I am on my 3rd 740...drive around 40k a year, the current car is a 90 NA and has well over 300k. The trans is the electric OD automatic. I have an 87 parts car, also NA with the regular automatic. I would like to put the motor from the 87 in my 90. Should I plan on swapping over the intake with the harness from the 90 onto the 87 engine? I have not really studied the harness but notice a couple of differences. Is the regular 3 spd auto better than the later elec OD type? Is there anything that would really prevent me from doing this?

Thanks

Al Taylor
