won't idle, poor running after cleaning engine 900 1991

Hi all. I feeling pretty dumb right now but I must be missing an obvious answer.
I'm hoping someone here is thinking better than I at present.

I have a '91 940SE, turbo of course, with about 140K miles. I just replaced both fuel pumps, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and cleaned the throttle body.
The car started and ran great. I then power washed the engine and compartment followed by starting the car and running it for about a half hour to help dry it out. It idled and ran fine.
The next day it started but died, it wouldn't idle. It restarts just fine but I had to keep the rpm high, around 2000rpm to keep it running. Below 2000 it runs real rough, above 2000 it's smoother but still has an obvious "miss". I decided to take a short drive, keeping the rpm up, to see if it would clear itself. It runs almost like a "flooded " engine. It accelerated quite well, even with the miss in the engine. It has lots of power just won't idle or run smooth.

Now for what I've tried. My first thought was water in the distributor cap, none. I then checked the vacuum lines followed by the electrical connectors. All appear dry and in place. With the engine running at 2000 rpm(thanks to my wife) I pulled & replaced each spark plug wire with a minimal drop in rpm and recovery with each one.

I'm baffled as to what changed after sitting overnight. I thought by running it and drying it out the evening before I wouldn't have any problems.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
