relays that keep car from running? 200 1983

I remember reading somewhere about a relay that will keep the car from running -- something other than the fuel pump relays; something that sounds like it wouldn't have anything to do with killing the engine... Thought I sent it to myself, but can't find it.

Help? My lovely green beast sputtered and died, and won't even start back up several days later. Cranks, but just won't quite run. It has momentarily hesitated now and then over the last several months, especially on the highway. And one time it actually died on the highway, wouldn't start for a little while, but then finally did, and ran fine for a few weeks, 'til this.

I've already checked a bunch of things like fuel pump relays...

thanks
