960 check engine and other warning lights on

My son's '96 960 (130,000 miles)suddenly has had a number of the warning lights come on - the ABS, transmission OD, transmission mode and check engine lights have all come on today. We had 2 oxygen sensors replaced a couple of weeks ago after changing the catalytic converter and the check engine light came on then. Today, many other lights came on as well - and the speedo stopped working.

It seems to me that all this is related, but the only thing I can think about is a general power or regulation issue. What should I be looking for ??
