'67 122 key cyl. removal: Is the release a button or spring loaded, recessed pin??? 120-130

Hi:
I've been doing, "search," for a while and have read all I can find on the age-old broken key, etc., problems. My turn to have that problem now as I finally have a broken key residing inside my cylinder. I am able to turn to, "on," position where I understand I can reach behind the dash and, "release," the tumbler, "barrel." I read where some say the release is a button to press and some say it requires a nail or pin-punch to depress a pin. All seem to say it is located at about 10-o'clock when viewed from front or driver's position.

First: Am I feeling around for a button or a spring-loaded pin I need to depress far enough to clear the cylinder tube????

Second: when I feel under the dash, next to the sheet metal dash itself, I can feel the smaller diameter area where there feels like a couple lobes. But that area is only about a half inch or so long, then the diameter swells to a larger, smoother tube at the back of which the switch wiring attachments begin.

I'm thinking the release is in the area closest to the dash metal. Right or wrong???

At 68 years old, I don't bend easily now to stick my head under there very well so I'm trying to do as much homework as possible before I go back out there.

Finally, when I get the tumbler barrel out, am I better off to scrap this original armoured cable to coil system or just opt for the additional, "button start???"

Thanks,
Dennis in E WA state
