Battery and Parking Brake lights on following alternator replacement

I had the Battery and Parking Brake warning lights come on a couple of days ago. Voltage at the battery while running was 11.8 or something ( 12.6 at rest ), so I went ahead and replaced the alternator.

No problems with the swap, except that the engine starter skipped and acted strange when I tried to start it after the repair. I backed the belt tension way down, and that did the trick.

After the swap, I have good voltage at the battery ( 13.5 or something like that ) and no warning lights.

Now, one day later, I have a Battery and Parking Brake light on bright at idle, that gets dimmer as the rpm rise. And, the temp gauge seems to have quit.

Any ideas what would cause that ?
