Need any Got'chas doing a tranny fluid flush 200 1988

This is my 1988 240 with 150k miles. I assume it has only had regular transmission fluid and I was thinking of swapping to Synthetic. Is this a wise move to swap? I use Synthetic Motor oil and would like to also swap the trans and rear end to it also. Is there a possibility of doing damage or causing leaks with the change?

Advice, as always, is welcome!
