High beams-showing amber color beam when low beams are on 700 1989

1989 744 GL

Got the car home from the mechanics, my wife noticed that all four lights were on and the two closest to the grill (high beams) were showing a dull amber glow?

- I recently changed the stock ones over to the Bosch lens/Piaa bulbs. I was running them in my newly deceased 87 745 for 5 years with no problems.

- When I unplug the high beams, the low beams stay on , but then the high beam blue light on the dash is on.
- When i flick the high beam arm, the blue light still stays on but the low beams go to the Higher beam in the low beam light ( that's just because of the type of bulb it is.)
- when I flick the high beam switch the highs go bright and the lows loose the amber look and seem normal
- I have replaced the bulb failure relay from my 87 (which was good), after installing it and starting it up I heard what sounded like a bulb frying....yikes.

Its Saturday here and have to wait till Monday to talk to my mechanic.

Its gotta be....

Any insights would be appreciated.
