'pretty good shape' is awful subjective.

Is that to say all systems are within factory acceptable spec? Suspension, steering, engine, electrical? Everything work like it's supposed to, little or no rust or anything?

If that's not the case, spend the money to get it totally up to par.

If it's already there, I'd bury the $2k and save it for a rainy day (which to me means... dig it up next time something really cool comes up for sale. Which is generally the following day).
