No start 740 16v 700

Car had been sitting for a year. It's not been driven daily for years, just hate to part with it as I've put a lot into over the years.

I try to start about every couple of months, get it running, and than leave it for a few.

About a year ago could not get the car to idle, and it ran very rough, had the injectors cleaned, and that cured the problem.

This time, can not get the car to run without starting fluid, once that runs dry the car dies.

I have fuel to the rail, under pressure, (ask me how I know). Don't know the amount of pressure but seems like a lot! I pulled the fuel rail, soaked the injectors in about every type of cleaner available. And drained almost all the old gas out. Then put a gallon or so of new gas in.

Still no run without starting fluid.

I noticed two things when I pulled rail. 1) strong smell, like varnish? didn't smell right. 2) Injector area dry, even though I had been just trying to start! No normal smell of gas.

I do have spark, and I suspect the old gas has gunked up the injectors. But normally, if I'm not mistaken the car should run, roughly, even on two injectors. At least try to. Could all be so bad as not to run at all?

thanks for any input.
