How Long, how worried should I be?

Ok... I am waiting to replace my TAB's. I have ordered the bushings, front and rear from IPD and the rear are on backorder until the 17th... so they should get here by the 20th... Right now the TAB that is the worst is on my driver's side, the rubber has decayed and the metal sleeve appears like it has been pushed through the hole. I am hearing a jeneral thunk everytime I accelerate from a stop which goes through the body of the car. How worried should I be, and how long can it take for these things to give out, and what happens when they do?

Any advice/info is appreciated.
