sunroof help 700 1989

89 780.

sunroof hasn't worked since i got the car so i pulled a motor and switch from the junkyard. installed new motor and it now opens but it is not perfect. i lubed everything i could see-the motor gear, track for the roof, etc to no avail.

-when it opens, it pauses and i have to engage the switch again for it to open the rest of the way.

-when closing, the same happens just before it comes to a complete close.

-before replacing motor, roof leaked slightly, mainly in heavy rain on passenger side towards front of sunroof. the drains seem to be working fine (spray the roof and water drips from all 4 drainage spots) but i pushed an unbent clothes hanger down there anyway-no resistance. now that i've opened it for the 1st time since owning, the leaks are worse, coming from both driver and passenger side rear of the roof and at a faster rate. the pass. side of the roof doesn't seem to sit as flush as it did previously when looking at it from outside.

-does not go into vent position. motor makes 1 "click" then stops, roof doesn't move.

as far as the leaking, can i assume that the seal is in need of replacement? and does the roof need to be re-aligned? FAQ says a manual will guide me through but all i have is a crappy, multi-model chilton manual that doesn't cover sunroof maintenance. most advice for it not going into vent position is for crank-roof..
