The NAPA store I checked had one window sealant (in a tube for caulk gun) and it was a 3M product called "Window Weld (8609). Is this what you meant? I ask because as I read about it, it sounded like this was made for the much newer "flush" mounted glass where the goop is actually gluing the glass to the body - no rubber gasket/seal like we have. If I remember correctly the last time I did this (maybe as long as 10 years ago) I used a windshield sealant, although I don't remember what kind, name, type it was, but I thought it was for "seal" type installations - it seemed to remain pliable when cured(?) and had a long open time.
I'm just trying to determine if I need to use an old school sealant for windows with a rubber seal, and if so which one, what name, or whether the newer stuff (Window Weld) works for both old and new glass installation. Window weld is described as a "Super fast urethane...with a 10-15 minute work time..."
