940 AC stopped working suddenly 900 1993

It was nice and cold right up to when it quit. Didn't even notice it quit until I realized it wasn't cycling and lowering the rpm during idle at a red light. Otherwise it nothing changed except the air coming out wasn't cold or even cool. So I was wondering if it was a fuse (but couldn't find an AC fuse on the panel) or perhaps even the switch on the dash failing. Any suggestions about where to start a basic diagnosis.
(I checked the FAQs but got overwhelmed with all the details)\

Thanks.
