MCC in a '94 940: what does the heat control actually do? 900

Hi all,

I recently replaced the heater core in my '94 940. All went well. The weather is turning cold and I've got heat!

After I had the core in, I turned my attention to the heater control valve. There was no vacuum at the line, so the valve did not respond to any commands. So, at the moment, I have no heater valve; I'm just running straight in and out of the core. The control to the flap above the passenger footwell is operational, so for the moment I'm fine.

The heater valve is normally open. When you turn the heat control to Cold, is it supposed to send vacuum to close the valve? Then, when you turn to Hot, it releases vacuum (opening the valve) and then sends vacuum to open the flap in the footwell?

Thanks,

Monty
