I'm dealing with my '91 turbo 745 now but had the same problem with my '93 245 wagon. Let me articulate, under the rear hatch license plate light is a 3-4" long horizontal release, Normally when you unlock the drivers door all doors including this latch either unlocks or is positioned so by squeezing it will unlock.
Well it somes times doesn't position it's self to release, This is difficult to explain, it is suppose to shift this lever from a rearward position to a forward ready to release position by squeezing lever towards back of car. I've found when it does not release if I push release lever towards the front of car then
lock and again unlock the drivers door it "like positions this lever like cocking a rifle to release. The inside manual lever works always. My key does not fit the lock in back Some one in the past seems to have lost the proper key.
On my '93 I bought an entire assemble I pulled out of a wagon at pick a part, and replaced every thing in this very difficult to work on space. problem solved I'd prefer not going through this PINTA PROCEDURE AGAIN if one of the gray beards has no doubt experienced this problem B-4. Funny I have no color left on my head except white but lack the knowledge of Lucid & others here. I'm a Math Tutor and it seems to not unlatch once at school so I have to crawl in the back like a reptile until I can reach the inside release, try unlatching and pushing open enough to slip something under hatch with one arm until I crawl out. I have only a right arm that works, Vietnam vet. thanks guys, Bill
