You are correct....turns out I don't have ABS. I hardly ever drive the Volvo...the one time my Dad did, he said he had to slam on the brakes and was glad the ABS clicked on to help him stop! that is probably how I got it stuck in my head that I had ABS. I am a bit embarrassed by my lack of knowing this! I do know a bit about car and fixing them...I just don't drive them very much now. If the problem persists and the light glows a bright red, I will take it to my favorite volvo mechanic.
