shudder no shudder?? 200 1989

I posted about my brick not long ago about shuddering and looking for answers. So far I had replaced the front rotors, new front PBR pads, and new rear auto trans mount, and even a brand new master cylinder, to no avail. Still (front) shuddering at low speeds and worse when hit the brakes.

Finally went to a pro shop. They felt the shudder, listend to my story, and drove the brick. Suggested it was most likely 1 or more of the 3 universal joints that may have gotten rust and didnt "flex" properly, so I scheduled to replace them in a couple days.

Today-this morning, ran the brick through an auto car wash, came out the car wash, and headed down the street; Stop light; hit the brakes-hmmmm--no shudder!!? is it temporary? Well, after driving another 10 miles, stop and go , still no shudder. Haven't replaced the U joints as yet.

Complaining? No-but I doubt the shudder is ”cured”. Speculations? Maybe the undercarriage spray at the car wash washed away something in the brakes area that was causing the shudder, or maybe the rust at the U joints washed away? (saying IF there were any rust. )

Must be the Volvo ghosts decided to help out. Question now-do I go ahead and replace the U joints anyway or ride it out ‘till /IF the shudder comes back? Or just go ahead with the planned U joint replacements? Wouldn't hurt except for a few more $$ out of the pocket. Just thinking out loud--
