That's fine. I guess it is funny.

I like the air-cooled VWs, also, yet never owned one.

Did you ever see the film "Castle Keep" starring Peter Falk. They try to resurrect a drowned WW II era VW bug or try to drown it yet find it floats.

I'd pulled smaller engines from an air-cooled VW van and either put in the 1835 cc or larger engine and it seemed to help.

"Dude! We hot boxed the [VW] vanagon!"

Though in 240s, all you had to do was downshift to 3rd (M46) and it'd go even with the North American B21F, and it'd get back to 7o MPH floored all the way! Performance is better with the L-jet and a good tuning.
