How to remove the console .... 200 1989

To remove the console, you not only have to remove those lights in the back, but also some hidden screws (bolts, actually) on the sides of the console which are hidden by the sides of the seats. Slide the seats all the way forward, and you should see them. That will release the rear portion of the console. Then you have to look for screws in the forward part of the console as well.

If you have power mirrors, be sure to also remove these 2-axis toggle switches as well (mark them so you remember how they are oriented, for the next time you want to adjust the mirrors :-).

I had to remove the console on my '93 (with the power mirror switches, and seat heater switches) to install this arm rest -- it wasn't hard, so just be careful and methodical.
