Update: 85 245 that won't start 200 1985

Ok, here is the latest (I felt like a new thread was necessary, since there's new information). Some I will admit will be review.

Ok, here is it as things stand now (sorry if making a new thread bothers some, or is frowned upon).

I replaced the ground from the alternator to the engine. I checked all of the grounds (that I can find) and they seem fine and clean. My wiring harness is the new style, and doesn't seem to present any failures or breaks. Although there IS a connection under/around the battery that is bad. It has a connection much like the one that the oil pressure connection is like. It is two black lines, but I don't know where they go.

The battery does start my truck, but neither of my batteries start my Volvo.

I have a brand new (re-manufactured) starter in, as I said. It clicks when I try to start the car (like the solenoid is clicking). The connections on it are fine (including new battery cables).

Now when I try to start the car, the dome light dims AND the battery reads ever decreasing volts (esp if I hold the key in the start position). And after I do that there is NO sound.

I tried to do a direct line to the starter, but just as when I tried to jump the old starter to check it, I apparently am incapable of doing it.

I'll be happy if this ends up being a battery, but I don't understand how a dead or dying battery could start my truck but be too dead to start the Volvo.
