Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap...... 200 1984

I would lean to valve tap since it goes away after the oil pressure comes up. But it still isn't good. Pull the pan and the oil pump to see if the seals are bad on the pump. I don't know how you could test the pump so if it were me I would replace the pump and seals since your in there.

You should check the valve clearance and adjust if needed.Does your B23 have valve hushers, you may wan't to change them. But first do the oil pump and seals before anything else.
