Headlight relay numbers 200 1983

The Volvo Part Numbers below are from the 2001 Volvo Quick Reference Parts Catalog.
The cross-referenced Bosch numbers are from a 1991 "trade catalog" (S.A.V.E.).

Volvo 1324749-9 is the Bosch # 0-332-015-006. Bosch relays 0-332-015-012 or 013 also work.

My '93 940 had the Bosch 006 relay installed until I put the 013 in for testing (same current capacity, but the 013 has a diode in the coil circuit). It's been working fine for about 3 years now.

When energized, the Main lighting relay switches voltage to each output terminal. Terminal 87 powers the Headlights (Hi/Lo relay terminal 56). While 87b powers the Parking and Instrument lights via fuses 15 and 16.

With the Main relay de-energized, the Parking and Instrument lights are powered directly from the switch, in the Parking light position. See note below:

• NOTE: The two relay outputs (87 and 87b) are NOT internally connected or "common" to each other until the relay is energized. That configuration is required to prevent Parking light voltage from "back-feeding" to the Headlights when the switch is in the Parking light position and the relay is de-energized.
