Help a newbie: Going to check out 740 Wagon tomorrow; won't start 700 1990

Hi Everyone! I'm excited to be joining the ranks of Volvo owners soon. My wife and I have been looking for an inexpensive but dependable wagon, so I've been scouting Volvo 240/740/940s for the last couple weeks in the Sacramento/Bay Area.

So, the best lead I think I've found so far in our price range is a 1990 740 Turbo Wagon. Buyer sounds nice, everything about the wagon sounds good so far, except that it has had some intermittent starting issues lately. Apparently it would start about a month ago, but then started fine for a couple weeks, and now won't start again. The buyer said that it would start to turn over, but not fire up. Now the battery is out of juice from trying to start it.

I know this doesn't offer a lot of information to go on, but I'm going out tomorrow morning to check it out. The buyer is going to let me take the battery into O'Reilly to get it tested/charged. If that doesn't solve the problem, what do you think the most likely culprits are?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

-Kevin
