Fuel pump relay 200 1992

I revisited this problem of no start and the relay.
I heeded Lucid's advice, took out #4 & #6 fuses, cleaned contacts, put new fuses back, jumped 4&6 and no start.
I removed the relay that I thought was bad and I tried my hand at soldering.

The were no obvious breaks in the solder, but I remember one of Art's posts where he said it was real hard to see the breaken joint, so I touched up all the connections being careful not to have any contact between adjacent spots.

Plugged it back in, and it started.

I am happy it starts but confused as to why it did not start when I jumped 4 & 6.
Coincidence? Is there something else at play here?

Will try to start later tonight. It is raining here and I am a driveway tinkerer with no garage.

Thanks for any illumination on my puzzlement.
I'm still getting another relay for a spare.
