Merry Xmas

I'm trying anything inexpensive I can do to get rid of the valve/lifter knock in the motor of my 1987 760 turbo 4cyl sedan.

The owners manual says do not add oil additives.I was wondering I used a quality product like BG,Redline etc. would that be ok?Do you think that would help the get rid of the knock?

The old girl just has too much dignity to ride around with that slapping noise.
