Volvo Sports Car Club of New York badge

Hello All:
I am trying to help a friend without internet access. He is trying to identify the badge in the attached picture. It is an older badge made in two pieces, with the center white circle with Volvo and the lightning bolt a separate piece from the outer yellow ring. The badge was made in Spain which likely identifies it as made in the late 1950's or early 1960s.

As afellow Volvo enthusiast and badge collector, I too am curious about the badge and the club. Where and when did it exist.

I'd sure appreciate any help or leads to find out more.

Thanks and best holiday wishes.
Bob Tescione
