source for speedometer gear 740 vdo cluster 700

i have found a compatible gear for the speedo for the VDO 740.
the gear can be obtained from an old cassette tape player. its the gear part thats attached to the actual tape take up spindle(part that goes through the tape reels themselves). what youll have when disassembling the tape deck is the takeup spindles attacvhed to a plastic post(mine was white most are same) with a spring and a few fiber washers. what you do is to measure against original gear in speedo and cut the plastic post off of the gear and sand the burrs. mine happened to be the EXACT same size, thickness and tooth type.also the little hole in the gear matches the post(more like bump really) on the assembly it "lives" on within the speedo assembly.

thought id post this to save people alot of time and headaches finding the gear.
i havent put it in yet as i have to cut the plastic side on my speedo to access the circuit board and motor(i wont be having another incident at wrecking the needle vdo clusters are near impossible to find) ill let everyone know when its all together how it turns out
