B-18 Distributors 444-544

Will all distributors interchange on the B-18? I know there are several different kinds that function differently, but ultimatly do they all work? I recently bought a 62 544 and the previous owner really did a job on the distributor trying to put an electronic ingition in it. I put the points back in but had to bypass the vaccuume advance since he had removed the screws from it. It runs fine right now like it is, but I want to rebuild a spare one to put in the car. I am an old school points guy since I understand them. That being said, back to the electronic ignition....I know the red wire goes to the coil and the black wire is supposed to go to the ground side of the coil. Since the B18 coil only has one lead on the engine compartment side are there any recommendations on there to connect the black wire?
