Bear in mind that the undrilled flywheel is a balanced unit as you found it, and the drilling you are contemplating will result in a slight imbalance, because of the weight of the metal you don't drill at those two indexing spots.

Whether this will be detectable in actual operation, I don't know, but the Volvo engineers would not approve.

The factory would have balanced those flywheels after the "timing holes" had been drilled. So, again, better to seek and find an original equipment piece.
