Gas return line leak - 1990 240 200 1990

Hi,

I have a 240 1990 5 speed wagon with ~150k on it. It was recently purchased (but I have 3 other 240s in my driveway, much to my wife's chagrin). I live in the Northeast.

I discovered a slight leak in the metal return line. The location of the leak is in the first few inches of the metal hose at the rear of the car. The return line looks to be in OK condition except for where it's leaking.

I would like to ask the advice of the board: since this is a low pressure line, is it possible to splice in a few inches of gas-tolerant hose? I could easily cut out of few inches and place the hose between, even add clamps if necessary.

Thanks in advance.

Bill
