Piston Slap questions... 700 1991

Since I was replacing Turbo on my car, decided to do another run through on engine. Found: Idler / Tensioner pully to be replaced; Severe Carbonization of pistions, and piston slap in cylinder #1 and #4. Regarding Piston Slap: Is complete removal of piston/ring replacement required to fix this issue or is there something else I need to do? I really want to do this right while I have engine torn down... helpful links /videos would be GREAT!! Merry Christmas to you all! Now going to check FAQ for piston slap issues :)
