odometer repair this one is different 200 1980

So I guess I have to go at it from the front.I have a tool at work to remove watch hands,I'll try that so as not to damage anything.I have a very low milage 262c with 44k and the darn thing just stopped counting.I have a spare working odometer from an 80 262c but has 125k on the clock.I have not removed the low mileage clock yet and was studying the spare to see what needs to be changed.I would hate to break whatever is needed for the repair/swap.Do you think it would be easier to roll back the higher clock? And how is this done, not trying to do any illeagal, just trying to make my clock right. Thanks,
Nelson
