Steering Racks 200 1978

At this stage, with a '78 you can't go by the tag (possibly in the trunk)that ID's the steering rack (but in Volvo speak--it says type 1,2 or 3) because the rack may have been changed over the years. They can interchange with only the mounting hardware different. I think it is CAM GEAR that can have either male or female threads on the inner tie rod--I may be wrong on the brand but one of them is like that. You may have to disassemble somewhat to be sure of what you have. If your rack uses folding locking washers between the rack and the inner tie rod be sure to get new ones--they often turn when you loosen the old TR and when they turn the inner lock tab shears off. -- Dave
