Can you remove portions of the charcoal canister system? 200 1980

My 80 appears to have 3 lines going to the large charcoal canister under the front driver's fender. One from the fuel tank, one attached directly to the manifold, and one T'd into some K-jet vacuum hoses under the manifold.

Putting aside the concerns about possibly venting the gas tank to atmosphere, are there any running concerns if removing this system? I've heard of people removing them from 140's with D-jet with no affect. Can I do the same here if desired? It seems like it could be a big source of additional vacuum leaks.
