Electric overdrive works intermittently 200 1979

Just recently, my 79 240 DL's overdrive has been acting up. It seems to only want to work if I pull back the shifter while in fourth gear. It works fine up until I let go of it and it starts to disengage and reengage intermittently.

Is this just a bad wire connection?
