Crumbling plastic in my taillight circuits 700 1990

I replaced both my taillight circuits (the metal ones, not the flexible plastic) a few years back. I can't remember where I got them. I think I got them both from an independent dealer, but I may have gotten them from Lampsandlenses or from FCP.

Anyway, today, I had my bulb out light on, so I went back to smack the plastic taillight housing. That didn't work, so I opened it up, and lo and behold the plastic for the upper left taillight had broken into several other pieces. I had to pull the bulb out. I'm going to keep my hands off of it until I can replace it, but I want to avoid buying another one that will do the same thing.

Anyone else have this problem?

Happy Bricking!
