question on s-tube below frame trap on 240 200

I was able to remove and replace the flame trap on my 240. I saw that the s-tube below flap trap was splitting at end. (Below this s-tube, I understand there is the an trap/breather box).

Can I pull it up to remove it? Then can I push down the new one to install? If this is not the case, what would be the best, simple way?
